I was born on December 21, 2001. My parents are Gena and Jason Curtis, and I have two older brothers (Micah and Stanley), one younger sister (Leila – who is in tennis) and a dog (Prince). I have a 4.0 GPA, so I am able to balance my gymnastics life and academic life very well. I am and have been on High Honor Roll since sixth grade, and have been inducted in the National Honor Society. During my free time, I love to read, listen to music, travel, watch TV, and spend time with my family and friends.

When I was four years old, my mom put me in ballet, lyrical and gymnastics classes. In 2007 I was invited to join pre-team. After a while, I had to choose between gymnastics and dance, and I chose gymnastics. I started competing as a level 5 gymnast in 2009, and I consistently placed well through the levels. When I was training for level 8/9 in 2012 I had a few injuries and decided to take a break from gymnastics.

In December of 2014, I joined New Image Gymnastics in Edgewood, NY to see if I was ready to start competing at the Junior Olympic level again. As I trained in 2015, I was able to get a majority of my skills back, and, by the time the 2015/2016 season came up, I was ready to compete level 9. Even with my break, that didn’t stop me from achieving my goal of getting my skills back. In my first year competing as a level 9 gymnast, I was able to qualify for States, Regionals, and Eastern Nationals.

I stayed level 9 for the 2016/2017 season as well. Even though I was able to upgrade a few skills, I didn’t want to push past my limit to the point where I’d have a bad year as a level 10, rather than a good year as a level 9 with clean skills. I was able to again qualify for States, Regionals, and Eastern Nationals, where I placed 2nd on Vault, 5th on Bars, and 8th All Around.

As level 10 for the 2017/2018 competition season I qualified for States, Regionals, and Nationals. For 2018/2019 season I will focus on strengthening and cleaning my skills while putting new routines together. I will work hard to once again make it to Junior Olympic Nationals. My long-term goal is to compete at the college level.
