Olivia Rapp was born on December 12, 2001 in Ohio to Jeff and Melissa Rapp. She has an older sister, Madeleine and an older brother, Brian. Currently, Olivia is an honor student at Gahanna Lincoln High School and she will graduate in 2020. Olivia loves traveling with her family and relatives on both coasts of the country, she has had the opportunity to see, first-hand, much of the United States. She is active and enjoys hiking, shopping with friends, amusement parks (she loves roller coasters!) and attending sporting events for her brother and sister, and anything artistic.
Olivia does not remember a time when she was not hanging out in the gym. With five years between herself and her big sister, Olivia was dragged to practices and meets around the region when she was still in a carrier. She used to pass the time at meets playing on Game Boys with her big brother, who is only 15 months older than she is, while her older sister competed, and she began taking classes as a youngster while her big sister practiced on a competitive team. It did not take very long for the gymnastics “bug” to bite her, too. She soon found that she had a talent for the sport and enjoyed the connection she had with her big sister as well. Olivia began her gymnastics career at Capitol City Gymnastics in Ohio.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2012, Olivia finished fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault at the State Championships. Following her level 7 season in 2012, she moved to Universal Gymnasts, Inc. in Hilliard, OH. and has been there ever since. Olivia competed level 8 in 2013 where she placed first in the all-around with a 38.025, first on balance beam, second on uneven bars and third on vault at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 5 Championships and finished eighth in the all-around with a 37.450 and fifth on floor exercise.
Olivia moved up to level 9 for the 2014 season. She finished third in the all-around and second on vault and balance beam. At the Region 5 Championships, she placed seventh on floor exercise. Olivia continued competing level 9 in 2015 where she finished fifth on uneven bars at the State Championships. Olivia had a great meet at the Region 5 Championships, finishing second in the all-around with a 37.750, first on balance beam and second on floor exercise. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL, finishing fifth on balance beam. In 2016 as a first-year level 10 gymnast, Olivia qualified to the Region 5 Championships.
In 2017, Olivia finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.100 and fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 5 Championships, finishing ninth in the all-around and fourth on balance beam. Olivia qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN where she placed in the top 20 on balance beam and floor exercise out of 58 gymnasts. Olivia did well in 2018 where she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing third in the all-around with a 37.300, first on uneven bars and second on floor exercise at the Region 5 Championships. Olivia was the 2019 Level 10 OH State Balance Beam, Floor Exercise and All-Around Champion (37.725). At the Region 5 Championships, she earned bronze medals on uneven bars and floor exercise and was the alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals.
Olivia trains over 20 hours per week at Universal Gymnasts, Inc. in Hilliard, OH under coaches Dave Anthony, Natalia Lashchenova and Bill Widman. Olivia will join Kent State University gymnastics team during the 2020-2021 school year.
