Pua started gymnastics when she was seven years old. She started her competitive career at Hawaiian Island Twisters (HITS) under coaches Joe Rapp, Jamey Gossett and Lori Yee. When Pua was at HITS, she was the Level 4 State Champion and made the TOPs National Team. In 2004, she grabbed the level 7 all-around state title. When Pua was at GAGE, she qualified to Level 9 Western Nationals in 2005 and 2006. She then qualified to Junior Olympic Nationals in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Pua trained at Texas Dreams Gymnastics and she qualified to the 2009 Junior VISA Championships, where she finished 14th in the all-around, 10th on vault and 9th on floor exercise. Pua qualified to the Junior VISA Championships in 2010 and qualified to senior international elite in 2011. Currently, Pua is training for the upcoming 2012 season at Kansas Gymnastics and Cheer (KGDC).
