Riley Rae Goldberg was born on October 10, 2002 in California to Cary and Erica Goldberg. She has three older brothers, Alex, Max and Bailey and a younger sister, Halle. Riley is an honor student at Moorpark High School and she will graduate in 2020. She is active in the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, since she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of five. When Riley has time outside of gymnastics and school, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, shopping, going to movies, baking and singing in the car with her mom.
Riley met Tasha and Jordan Schwikert (Former elite and UCLA gymnasts) at one of the UCLA basketball games when she was four years old. They asked Riley to come watch one of their meets, and she ended up loving it. After that, her parents decided to enroll Riley into gymnastics classes and today her love for the sport continues to grow. Riley began her gymnastics career at Monarch's National Gymnastics Training Center in Agoura Hills, CA. She trained at Platinum Gymnastics in Simi Valley, CA between 2012-2015.
When Riley was at Platinum, she finished sixth on uneven bars with a 9.575 and seventh on floor exercise scoring a 9.475 at the Level 7 SoCal State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships, finishing in the top ten in the all-around, third on uneven bars with a 9.600 and sixth on floor exercise scoring a 9.575. Following her level 7 season, she moved to Wallers' GymJam Academy in Santa Clarita, CA. In 2016 as a level 8 gymnast, Riley finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.475 and second on uneven bars. She had a great meet at the Region 1 Championships, finishing sixth in the all-around with a 37.500, eighth on uneven bars and eighth on balance beam.
Riley missed the 2017 season due to dislocated elbow. In 2018, Riley won the floor exercise title with a 9.400 at the State Championships and placed fourth on vault at the Region 1 Championships. In 2019, Riley earned a silver medal on vault with a 9.700 at the Region 1 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals, finishing sixth in the all-around and second on vault.
Riley trains 22 hours each week at Wallers’ GymJam Academy in Santa Clarita, CA under coaches Iryna Krasnyanska, Stephen Mccain and Chris Waller. Riley's long-term goal is to become a part of a college gymnastics team in any way possible.
