Sabryna Faith Bennefield was born on March 14, 2002 in Texas to Doug and Joanne Bennefield. She has a sister, Samantha and a brother, Daniel. Sabryna is an honor student at Texas Connections Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2020. She is ranked 111 out of 904 (Top 15%). When Sabryna has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys drawing, writing, playing the ukulele and hanging with her family.
Sabryna's parents enrolled her into a Parent and Tot class when she was two years old in 2004. She really enjoyed the class, so she started gymnastics at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, TX and has been there ever since. At the 2011 Level 5 South Texas State Championships, she finished third in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on uneven bars. At the Level 5 State Championships, Sabryna won the balance beam title with a 9.625.
As a level 6 gymnast in 2012, Sabryna placed fifth on balance beam with a 9.425 at the State Championships. She moved up to level 7 for the 2014 season where she earned a bronze medal on uneven bars with a 9.675 at the State Championships. In 2015 as a level 8 gymnast, Sabryna qualified to the State Championships but was unable to compete due to an injury. She repeated level 8 in 2016 where she placed first in the all-around with a 38.000, first on vault and uneven bars (9.9) and third on floor exercise. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing third in the all-around with a 37.425, second on uneven bars and fourth on vault and balance beam.
Sabryna moved up to level 9 for the 2017 season. At the State Championships, she placed fifth in the all-around and first on uneven bars with a 9.400. She finished fifth in the all-around and first on uneven bars with a 9.550 at the Region 3 Championships. Sabryna qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID where she earned a silver medal on uneven bars with a 9.600. In 2018, Sabryna placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars with a 9.575 at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished fifth in the all-around and first on uneven bars with a 9.500. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT. In 2019, Sabryna placed third in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She earned gold medals on uneven bars and in the all-around at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals, finishing third on uneven bars.
Sabryna trains 25-29 hours per week at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, TX under coaches Barry Hyder and Pam Hyder. She is working hard to continue adding bonus skills, qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and to compete for a Division I college gymnastics team.
