Sarah was very active when she was young. She broke her arm three times before she even turned six years old! Her parents decided to enroll her into gymnastics to teach her how to fall correctly.
Sarah competed level five in 2005. At the Judges Cup, she finished first in the all-around as well as second on uneven bars and balance beam. At the Second Prelim, she won uneven bars and placed third in the all-around. Sarah then won vault, uneven bars and the all-around titles at the PGA Halloween Invitational. She swept the gold medals at the South Sectional Meet. At the Level 5 State Championships, she finished second in the all-around and third on vault and floor exercise.
As a level six in 2006, Sarah finished second on floor exercise at the 1st Prelim. She then won vault, balance beam, floor exercise and the all-around titles at the Butterfly Classic. At the South Sectionals, she won vault, floor exercise and the all-around titles. Sarah ended her season with a third place finish at the Level 6 States.
In December of 2007, Sarah qualified for the Southern California Level 7 Judges Cup Team. At the National Judges Cup, she finished third in the all-around and first on vault. She then began competing level eight in the beginning of 2008. At the Surf City Classic, she won vault and the all-around titles. She then won vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around titles at the California Classic. At the Heart of a Champion Invitational, she won vault. Sarah then finished third in the all-around at the Level 8 State Championships. At the Level 8 Regional Championships, she finished second in the all-around and third on vault.
In 2009, Sarah competed as a level 9. At the Lady Luck Invitational, she won vault, balance beam, floor exercise and the all-around titles. She won balance beam at the San Diego Classic. At the Hardrock Invitational, she placed second on uneven bars and third in the all-around. She then placed second in the all-around at the California Classic. Sarah won uneven bars at the Heart of a Champion Invitational and Malibu Coast Challenge. At the Level 9 State Championships, she won uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around titles. She then won uneven bars and the all-around at the Level 9 Regional Championships. There, she qualified to the Level 9 Western Championships, where she finished first on vault and sixth in the all-around.
As a first year level 10 gymnast in 2010, she finished third in the all-around at the San Diego Classic. At the AOGC Invitational, she placed fifth in the all-around, fourth on vault and floor exercise. She then finished second on uneven bars and first on balance beam at the California Classic. At the Byers Invitational, Sarah placed seventh overall and third on balance beam. Sarah placed third in the all-around, second on vault and floor exercise at the Level 10 SoCal State Championships. She then finished seventh overall and fourth on floor exercise at the Level 10 Regionals. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Texas where she finished 14th on floor exercise.
In 2011, Sarah placed fifth in the all-around and first on vault at the California Classic. At the Level 10 SoCal State Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise. Sarah placed second in the all-around as well as second on vault and uneven bars at the Level 10 Regionals. She qualified to the JO Nationals for the second time and finished 13th on vault and 19th on uneven bars.
Currently, Sarah is training for upcoming 2012 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains over 30 hours per a week at SCEGA under coaches Kathy Strate, Luis Garcia and Meredith Paulicivic.
Sarah Nicole Garcia was born on November 28, 1995 in Oceanside, California to Rick and Christina Garcia. She has one brother, Tyler and two sisters, Tarynn and Rebekah. Currently, Sarah is a sophomore at Santa Rosa Academy. Sarah said that one of her heroes is her mom, Christina. She passed away August of 2008 with a rare blood disorder.
