A coach saw Sara and her twin sister, Ana from a swim meet and asked them to join gymnastics when they were five years old. Sara and Ana started their competitive gymnastics career at International Gymnastics in Charlotte, NC and have been there ever since. They have been training under coach Suzie Sanocki their whole gymnastics career.
As a level 5 gymnast in 2010, Sara won the vault title with a 9.550 at the State Championships. She skipped level 6 and started competing level 7 in 2012. She placed 16th in the all-around with a 38.825 at the State Championships. In 2013, Sara competed level 8 where she finished tenth in the all-around with a 36.775, fifth on vault and sixth on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 8 Regionals, finishing fifth in the all-around with a 37.400, second on balance beam, fourth on vault and fifth on floor exercise. Sara continued competing level 8 in 2014 where she finished 11th in the all-around with a 37.700 and fourth on vault at the Level 8 Regionals.
Sara moved up to level 9 for the 2015 season. She finished 11th in the all-around and eighth on floor exercise at the State Championships and qualified to the Level 9 Regionals. Sara was unable to compete most of the 2016 season due to a broken leg. She did compete at the State Championships on uneven bars, her only event. Sara moved up to level 10 for the 2017 season. She finished tenth in the all-around with a 36.150 and fifth on floor exercise scoring a 9.375 at the Region 8 Championships. In 2018, Sara placed second on floor exercise with a 9.725 at the State Championships and qualified to Regionals. In 2019, Sara placed sixth in the all-around and third on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing seventh in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the Region 8 Championships.
Sara trains 20 hours per week at Perfect Balance Training Center in Charlotte, NC under coaches Suzie Sanocki and Teshawne Jackson. Sara will join the University of Penn gymnastics team during the 2020-2021 school year.
