Sara Wiatrak was born on April 13, 2000 in Tallahassee, FL to Megumi and Pawel Wiatrak. She has two siblings, Simone and Serissa. Sara is a senior at Bingham High School and will graduate in 2018. During Sara's spare time, she enjoys reading, lettering and designing visuals for social media.
Sara was a strong and active toddler. Her parents thought it was a good idea for Sara to start taking gymnastics classes for fun at a local gymnastics club, Trousdell Gymnastic Center when she was three years old. When she was in the pre-team at six years old, she and her family relocated to South Carolina. Sara started her competitive gymnastics career at Aiken Gymnastics in Aiken, SC where she was trained under coaches Draha Krizova and Sabina Jokulis.
As a level 4 gymnast in 2008, Sara finished fourth on vault and balance beam and fifth in the all-around at the State Championships. At the 2009 Level 5 State Championships, she placed second in the all-around and first on floor exercise. Sara moved up to level 6 in 2010 where she finished second in the all-around and first on vault at the State Championships.
Sara started competing as a level 7 gymnast in 2011. At the State Championships, she placed fifth in the all-around and first on vault. In 2012, Sara continued competing level 7. She finished third in the all-around and second on vault at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 7 Regionals where she finished second in the all-around with a 37.975, second on floor exercise, third on uneven bars and fourth on balance beam.
Sara moved up to level 8 for the 2013 season. At the State Championships, she finished first in the all-around with a 37.700 and first on vault, balance beam and floor exercise. She concluded her season at the Level 8 Regionals, finishing 18th in the all-around and fourth on vault and uneven bars. In the summer, Sara traveled to Europe for 15 days of training and competition with her teammates. She trained in Austria, Slovakia and Czechoslovakia. Sara placed 6th in the all-around at the Worthersee Cup in Klagenfurt, Austria. At the Gym-Festival Trnava in Slovakia, she placed 10th in the all-around. Soon after the returning from Europe, Sara and her family relocated to Utah. Therefore, Sara started training at Olympus Gymnastics in Sandy, Utah.
As a level 9 gymnast in 2014, Sara finished first on vault and second on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the State Championships. She placed third in the all-around and second on vault and balance beam at the Level 9 Regionals, qualifying to the Level 9 Western Nationals. At the Westerns, Sara finished 19th in the all-around and fifth on vault.
Sara moved up to level 10 for the 2015 season. At the State Championships, she placed third in the all-around, first on vault, second on uneven bars and floor exercise and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she had a season-high all-around score of 36.875. In 2016, Sara finished fifth in the all-around and third on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships, qualifying to the Region 1 Championships. Sara was unable to compete most of the 2017 season due to an injury but she was petitioned into Regionals where she scored a 36.000 in the all-around.
Currently, Sara is preparing for the 2018 season as a third-year level 10 gymnast. She trains 24 hours per week at Olympus Gymnastics in Sandy, Utah under coaches Ryan Kirkham and Jessica McDonough. Sara is working hard to reach her goal to compete for a Division 1 college gymnastics team.
