Savannah Pennese was born on September 27, 1999 in Houston, TX to Joe and Kathleen Pennese. She has an older sister, Samantha and two dogs. Currently, Savannah is an honor student at Porter High School and she will graduate from high school in 2018. She currently maintains a 3.9 GPA and is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and HOSA.
Savannah followed her older sister into gymnastics at the age of seven at Rowland Ballard Gymnastics in Humble, TX. As a level 6 gymnast in 2010, Savannah finished sixth in the all-around with a 37.625, third on vault and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She moved up to level 7 for the 2012 season where she placed fourth in the all-around with a 38.250, second on vault and fifth on floor exercise. As a level 8 gymnast in 2013, Savannah qualified to the Region 3 Championships. She continued competing level 8 in 2014, finishing sixth on vault at the State Championships and fourth on vault with a 9.600 at the Region 3 Championships.
Savannah competed level 9 the next three seasons. In 2015, she placed third on floor exercise with a 9.325 at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she earned a bronze medal on balance beam and finished 11th overall. In 2016, Savannah placed second in the all-around and first on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. She had a great meet at the Region 3 Championships where she placed second in the all-around with a 37.075, first on vault and fourth on uneven bars and balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals. In 2017, she finished first in the all-around with a 37.325 and first on vault, balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed in the top ten in the all-around, third on vault and fourth on floor exercise.
Savannah trains 21 hours per week at Rowland Ballard Gymnastics in Humble, TX under coaches David Worley, Ashlee Wargo and Daniel Ungerecht. Savannah is working hard to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals in 2018 and to compete for a college gymnastics team.
