Sevanna Van Affelen was born on October 2, 2002 in California. She currently lives in Huntington Beach, CA with her grandparents, Doug and Kandie and a dog named Chloe. She has a sister, Capriana and a brother, Jaden. Currently, Sevanna is a student at Edison High School and she will graduate from high school in 2020. When she has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys going to the beach, shopping, traveling, swimming, surfing, paddle boarding and hiking.

Sevanna's mother was a level 10 gymnast so she naturally followed her mom into gymnastics. Sevanna had a lot of energy and flexibility and she would walk across the back of the couch at the age two. Sevanna's family took her to a little gym called My Gym when she learned to walk and she ran across the beam. The coaches had never seen a child her age do that. Needless to say beam is her best event.

As a level 7 gymnast in 2015, Sevanna finished third in the all-around with a 38.400 and second on vault and balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she won the all-around title with a 39.100! She also placed first on uneven bars and balance beam, second on vault and fourth on floor exercise. Sevanna was on the SoCal Regional Team where she helped the team to place first. At the end of the season, Sevanna was named in America's Level 7 Top 100 for uneven bars (9.800), balance beam (9.900) and all-around (39.100).

Sevanna moved up to level 8 for the 2016 season. She placed second in the all-around with a 37.700 and first on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, Sevanna finished first in the all-around with a 38.575 and first on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Sevanna was named in America's Top 100 again for level 8 on uneven bars (9.800), balance beam (9.725) and all-around (38.575). As a level 9 gymnast in 2017, Sevanna finished seventh in the all-around with a 36.625 and third on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships, finishing eighth on vault and ninth on floor exercise.

As a level 10 gymnast in 2019, Sevanna placed fifth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships as a specialist.

Sevanna trains 20 hours per week at Scats Gymnastics in Huntington Beach, CA under coaches Shannon Hong and Tim Rogers. Sevanna would like to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals as well as to compete for a college gymnastics team.
