Skylar Kaston was born on August 11, 2003 in New York to David and Allison Kaston. She has a sister, Taylor and brother, Bailey and a dog named Ryder. She is an honor student at Half Hollow Hills High School East and will graduate in 2021.

Skylar started taking recreational gymnastics for fun when she was five years old. One year later, she was asked to join pre-team at Phoenix Gymnastics in Old Bethpage, NY and has been there ever since. She competed level 4 in 2011 and level 5 in 2012. As a level 6 gymnast in 2013, Skylar placed fourth on vault and fifth on floor exercise at the State Championships.

In 2014, Skylar earned a silver medal on vault at the Level 7 State Championships. She moved up to level 8 for the 2015 season where she placed fourth on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. She competed level 9 the next three seasons. In 2017, she placed third in the all-around and second on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 6 Championships, she finished second in the all-around and first on vault. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Lansing, MI, finishing ninth on vault. Skylar had another great level 9 season in 2018 where she placed second in the all-around and first on vault at the State Championships. Skylar finished fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the Region 6 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Rochester, NY for the second time where she earned a bronze medal on vault.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2019, Skylar placed eighth on vault at the State Championships and fifth on vault and sixth on balance beam at the Region 6 Championships. In 2020, Skylar qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, Phoenix Gymnastics suddenly closed its doors to its USAG program. Skylar followed her coach, Tatiana Abramova to New Image Gymnastics in Deer Park, NY.

Skylar trains 22-28 hours per week at New Image Gymnastics in Deer Park, NY under coaches Tatiana Abramova and Robin Harper. She is working hard to qualify to the JO Nationals the next few years. Her long-term goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
