Sophia Kaloudis was born on August 1, 2006 in New York to Chris and Christina Kaloudis. She has an older
sister Alexis, and a dog named Max. Sophia is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and attends
Huntington High School where she will graduate in 2024.
From an early age Sophia was full of energy and determination. At four years old, Sophia began taking
recreational gym classes at Gold Medal Gymnastics Center. Always eager to try and learn new skills,
Sophia quickly progressed and joined the USAG team and began competing as a level 4 gymnast in 2014.
In early 2015, Sophia placed ninth in the all-around at the New York State Championships.
The following year Sophia skipped level 5 and advanced to level 6. At the 2016 State Championships for
level 6, Sophia placed third in the all-around, second on balance beam and floor exercise, and third on vault.
Sophia advanced to level 8 for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Sophia was named to America’s Top 100 on
uneven bars with a 9.725 in 2018. Sophia was the 2018 level 8 all-around State Champion with a 37.575,
and State Champion on vault and uneven bars. At the State Championships, Sophia secured a spot on the
level 8 New York State Super Team for the 2018 Region 6 Championships, where she placed second on
vault and fourth on uneven bars and in the all-around with a 37.375.
As a level 9 gymnast in 2019, Sophia placed third on uneven bars and fifth in the all-around at the State
Championships. Sophia was the 2019 level 9 Region 6 Champion on uneven bars and floor exercise, and
third all-around. Sophia qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL where she placed fourth
on uneven bars. In March of 2020, Sophia was named to America’s Top 100, with a 9.775 for floor exercise
that she earned at the Arnold Gymnastics Challenge Finals. In 2020, Sophia qualified to the Level 9 State
Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2020, Sophia
moved to Apex Athletics in St. James, NY.
In 2021, Sophia took home gold medals on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 37.475 at the Region 6 Championships. This qualified Sophia to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL where she finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.200 out of 57 gymnasts! She also placed third on uneven bars and fifth on floor exercise. Sophia's fourth place finish landed her onto Junior Olympic National Team. Sophia had another great level 10 season in 2022 where she placed first on floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.150 at the State Championships. At the Region 6 Championships, Sophia finished second in the all-around and first on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships in Mesa, AZ where she placed seventh in the all-around with a 38.150, second on balance beam and eighth on floor exercise out of 57 gymnasts.
When Sophia is not training 22+ hours each week in the gym, she enjoys dancing, playing the violin and
spending time with friends and family. Sophia also volunteers at her church, and in the fall of 2019 she
helped organize a Donuts for Dorian fundraiser at her gym where her team raised money for the Red Cross
to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics
scholarship.
