Sophie Rogers was born on January 7, 2000 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota to Jim and Jennifer Rogers. She has an older sister Carly, a twin brother Jake, and a younger sister Lucy. Sophie is a senior at Eden Prairie High School taking AP and Honor courses, and has been on the “A” honor roll since 5th grade. Her favorite subjects are math, science and American Sign Language. She is active in numerous school clubs, and is a founding member of the West Lakes Chapter of the National Charity League where she has served as an officer every year. Her favorite philanthropies to volunteer for are Special Olympics, Angel Foundation, and the Ronald McDonald House.
Sophie has loved doing gymnastics ever since she started in 2005. In 2011, Sophie finished sixth on balance beam with a 9.225 at the Level 8 MN State and qualified to the Region 4 Championships. She continued competing level 8 in 2012 where she placed fourth on uneven bars with a 9.500 at the Level 8 MN State. At the Region 4 Championships, Sophie placed fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault. Sophie competed level 9 in 2013 and 2014 and qualified to Region 4 Championships both years. In 2015, she placed sixth in the all-around and seventh on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished sixth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars and balance beam. This qualified Sophie to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA where she placed 14th in the all-around and eighth on balance beam.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2016, Sophie finished in the top ten in the all-around at the Region 4 Championships and qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX. In 2017, Sophie finished sixth on balance beam at the Region 4 Championships.
Currently, Sophie is preparing for the 2018 season as a level 10 gymnast where she hopes to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals. She trains 23 hours per week at Classic Gymnastics in Minnesota under coaches Bryon Hough, Sam Walior and Charise Schrupp. She is working hard to reach her long-term goal to compete for a college gymnastics team.
