Sophina competed last night at the San Diego Classic in Poway, California. She finished first on uneven bars with a 9.575 and second on balance beam scoring a 9.525. Well done Sophina!

Sophina concluded her 2011 season last night at the US Covergirl Classic in Chicago, IL. She scored a 13.05 on vault and 13.25 on balance beam.

Sophina will be traveling to Chicago, Illinois for the US Covergirl Classic next weekend on July 23rd which will be held at the UIC Pavilion. The senior elite division will start at 7:00 p.m and she will start the meet on vault. Sophina will need a 54 to qualify to the VISA Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota in August. Sophina competed yesterday at the American Classic, a qualifier to the VISA Championships. She placed fifth in the all-around with a 53.700 and second on uneven bars scoring a 14.550. She needed a 54 to qualify to the VISA Championships so she will try again at the US Covergirl Classic in Chicago in a few weeks.

Sophina traveled to Dallas, Texas for the WOGA Elite Qualifier this weekend. She finished second in the all-around with a 53.100 as well as first on uneven bars scoring a 13.950. She qualified to the Classics this summer. Good job Sophina!

Last night, Sophina competed on two events at the SCEGA's California Classic. she did an outstanding job, where she won gold medals on uneven bars and balance beam scoring a 9.65 and 9.575 respectively. Good job Sophina!

Sophina competed this past weekend at the AOGC Invitational. She used this competition as a practice and only competed on two events. She placed third on beam with a 13.55. Good job Sophina.

Last night, Sophina concluded her second day of the Junior Japan International with a gold medal on floor exercise! Sophina started her second day of the meet on vault, where she finished fifth with a 13.8. She then placed fourth on uneven bars with a 13.625 and 5th on balance beam with a 13.15. On the last event, floor exercise, Sophina did an outstanding routine on floor exercise with a 14.3. She finished on the top ahead of Japan's Natsumi Sasada and Russia's Kiktoria Komova! Sophina competed earlier at the 2009 Junior Japan International. She finished fourth in the all-around right behind Russia's Viktoriya Komova, Japan's Natsumi Sasada and USA's Briley Casanova. Sophina and her USA teammate, Briley Casanova made it to Japan safely yesterday. They will be competing on Tuesday and Wednesday at the 2009 Junior Japan International. This competition will include gymnasts from all over the world, such as Australia, China, France, Japan and Russia. Sophina received her first international assignment today! She and Briley Casanova from WOGA will be representing the USA team at the 2009 Junior Japan International. This competition will be in Yokohama, Japan at the end of September. Congratulations Sophina! More information about this competition will be coming soon.

Congratulations Sophina: 2009-2010 Junior US National Team Member! Sophina's second VISA Championships concluded today in Dallas, Texas. She did really well today and she improved her all-around score from 54.200 (prelims) to 55.250 (finals). She finished 9th in the all-around, ninth on uneven bars and fourth on balance beam. Sophina, along with top 10 juniors, made the Junior US National Team. Good job Sophina! New pictures and videos from the meet will be coming soon.

Sophina just finished competing the first day of the Junior VISA Championships in Dallas, Texas. Right now, she is 16th in the all-around out of 31 gymnasts. Sophina’s best performances came on balance beam and floor exercise. She did a clean routine on balance beamfinishing 5th with a score of 14.300. She started her floor routine with a nice Arabian double front and dismounted with a double pike. She finished 14th place scoring 13.7 on that event. Sophina also did a clean Yurchenko full on vault scoring 13.2. Congratulations on a great preliminary round! Sophina will continue her competition during the finals on Saturday at 1:00 PM CST.

Sophina's second VISA Championships will begin this week! The first day of competition will be on Thursday, August 13 at 1:00 PM CST. She will be fourth person to go on balance beam during the first rotation. The second day will be on Saturday, August 15 at 1:00 PM CST. On that day, she will be fifth person up to go on floor exercise during the first rotation. Sophina will need to place in the top ten to make the Junior US National Team. Good luck Sophina!

USA Gymnastics, International Gymnast, and Inside Gymnastics will provide live scoring, news, pictures, etc during the VISA Championships. We will do our best to keep Sophina's website updated as soon as we get news and results.

Sophina competed at the US Classic this afternoon. Her meet was highlighted with a 12th place finish on bars. She scored a 53.250 all-around. Sophina will next compete at the VISA Championships in Dallas, Texas. To find more information about this competition, please visit the USAG website.

Sophina will be competing at the US Classic next weekend on July 25 in Des Moines, Iowa. She will be competing in the junior session at 1:00 p.m. at the Vets Auditorium. Sophina has already qualified for the VISA Championships in Dallas, Texas. She will use this competition as a warm up. To find more information about this competition, please visit the USAG website.

Today, we added five new dancing videos. Two videos were from the Famous Dance Competition and it was given by Debbie Allen. This was the Vibe Dance Studio's first competition, where they won. One video was from the Ultimate Battle, a dance off between the best dancers over a week period of time. The dancers had a dance off every day or a week and they pick the winners of each day. By the end of the week, all of the best dancers had to compete each other for $500. Two other videos were from the Hip Hop Harry, a montage and an episode of "Fancy Footwear."

Sophina competed earlier at the SCEGA Elite Qualifier as a practice competition. She did really well, where she got a total score of 56.2 in the all-around. She also got 13.6 on vault, 14.3 on bars, 14.4 on beam and 13.9 on floor. Good job Sophina! Full results have been posted from the meet.

Yesterday at the 2009 American Classic, Sophina finished fifth in the all-around with a 54.049. She finished third on uneven bars with a 13.600 and fourth on floor exercise scoring 13.766. Sophina did really well this past weekend at the Development Camp at the US National Training Center in Houston, Texas. She finished second in the all-around and first in physical abilities. Good job Sophina!
