Sydney Bezelik was born on February 8, 2005 in Bristow, VA to Joe and Christine Bezelik. She has a sister, Violet and two dogs named Sasha and Sadie. Sydney is an honor student at Bridgeway Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2023.

Sydney's neighbor who is gymnastics coach at her current gym suggested that she try out gymnastics after watching her do cartwheels in the yard. Sydney started taking gymnastics classes at the age of five at Apollo Gymnastics in Woodbridge, VA and has been there ever since. As a level 5 gymnast in 2013, Sydney finished fifth in the all-around with a 37.300 and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. In the fall, Sydney made the TOPs "A" National Team at the age of eight. She continued competing level 5 in 2014, finishing third in the all-around with a 38.300, second on vault and floor exercise and third on balance beam at the State Championships.

Sydney skipped level 6 and 7 and quickly moved up to level 8 for the 2015 season. At the Level 8 State Championships, Sydney placed seventh in the all-around with a 36.675 and fifth on vault and floor exercise. As a first-year level 9 gymnast in 2016, Sydney finished second in the all-around with a 36.375, first on balance beam, second on uneven bars and third on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships. In 2017, Sydney continued competing level 9 where she placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she placed third in the all-around with a 37.575 and fourth on vault. Sydney qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Lansing, MI, finishing seventh on vault and tenth on uneven bars. Sydney was unable to compete most of the 2018 season due to an injury.

Sydney trains 33.5 hours per week at Apollo Gymnastics in Woodbridge, VA under coaches Ken Anderson, Terri Diamond and Deborah Mairs. Sydney hopes to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
