Sydney started gymnastics when she was seven years old after taking a recreational class at a local gym and falling in love with the sport. She was also doing year-round swimming but her love for gymnastics was much stronger. Sydney moved to level 4 very quickly after starting recreational classes. She was the 2011 Level 4 VA State Vault, Uneven Bars and All-Around Silver Medalist. As a level 7 gymnast in 2013, Sydney placed second on balance beam with a 9.550 and fifth in the all-around with a 37.875. Following her 2013 season, Sydney moved to Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke, VA.

In 2014, Sydney won the balance beam and all-around titles with a 38.000 at the Level 8 VA State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships where she placed third in the all-around with a 38.000 and third on balance beam. She moved up to level 9 for the 2015 season where she won the all-around and floor exercise titles with a 37.800 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing first in the all-around with a 37.950 and second on vault and uneven bars at the Region 7 Championships. At the Nationals, she brought home a gold medal on uneven bars with a 9.575.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2016, Sydney placed second in the all-around and second on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she placed seventh on uneven bars and 11th overall. In 2017, Sydney was limited to two events due to an injury. She placed second on balance beam and third on floor exercise at the State Championships and competed at the Regionals. Sydney had a back injury in 2018 and a concussion in 2019.

When Sydney is not training over 25 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys traveling, reading, crossfit, swimming, dancing, yoga and meditation. She has been involved in fundraising for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and have helped raise thousands of dollars. She is interested in becoming an ambassador in the future.
