Tessa Volpe was born on April 11, 2003 in Texas to Bob and Karen Volpe. She has four sisters, Amelia, Sophia, Julia and Eva. Julia and Eva are also gymnasts at Pearland Elite Training Center. Currently, Tessa is a freshman at Texas Connections Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2021. When she has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys swimming and running.
Tessa followed her older sister into gymnastics when she was five years old. She has been training at Pearland Elite Training Center most of her gymnastics career. She competed level 5 in 2011 and level 6 in 2012. As a level 7 gymnast in 2013, Tessa placed seventh in the all-around with a 37.750 and sixth on balance beam at the State Championships.
In 2014 as a level 8 gymnast, Tessa scored a 37.700 in the all-around and placed seventh on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing tenth on balance beam with a 9.525. She moved up to level 9 for the 2015 season. At the State Championships, she placed in the top ten in the all-around, sixth on balance beam with a 9.400 and seventh on floor exercise scoring a 9.500. Tessa placed fifth on floor exercise with a 9.500 at the Region 3 Championships. Tessa continued competing level 9 in 2016 where she placed third in the all-around, first on floor exercise with a 9.625 and third on balance beam with a 9.300 at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished seventh on floor exercise with a 9.700.
In 2017, Tessa participated in elite qualifiers. She passed compulsories, a portion of elite testing with a 35.150 at the Parkettes National Elite Qualifier. She placed sixth on balance beam at the National Elite Qualifier in July.
Tessa trains 30 hours per week at Pearland Elite Training Center in Pearland, TX under coaches Tasha Beale, Nick Cedillo and Tony Pineda. Tessa's long-term goal is to earn a scholarship to compete for a Division I college gymnastics team.
