At the age of two, Tia used to jump off the back of the couch and fall down all the time, so her mom put her in gymnastics to teach her how to fall! At the beginning of Tia's gymnastics career, she trained at Aerial Works Gymnastics where she was coached by Kate DeMain. When Tia was seven years old and training level 5, she moved to Texas Elite Gymnastics, formerly known as Mesquite, until the gym closed. When she was there, she trained under coach Amber Prather.
In 2004 as a level 5 gymnast, Tia placed first in the all-around at the Texas Classic and Judges Cup. At the Under The Big Top and Mesquite Roundup, she finished third in the all-around at both competitions. At the Level 5 North State Championships, she won the all-around title as well as first on uneven bars and floor exercise. She then competed at the Level 5 State Championships in the gold division. There, she placed first in the all-around, first on vault and second on floor exercise. In the fall, Tia made the National TOPs Diamond Team.
Tia moved up to level 6 in 2005. She finished first on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the Svetlana Boquinskaia Invitational. At the Yellow Rose Classic, she placed second overall. In the fall, Tia qualified to the National TOPs Team. Tia quickly moved up to level 7 during her 2005-2006 season. She placed 16th overall at the Level 7 All-Star Challenge and eighth in the all-around at the National Judges Cup. Tia then finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam at both TWU Qualifier and Metroplex Challenge. At the Yellow Rose Classic, Tia won the all-around title as well as first on vault, balance beam and floor exercise. At the Level 7 North State Championships, she finished fifth overall. Tia then placed fourth at the Level 7 State Championships and third in the all-around at the Level 7 All-State in Oklahoma. In the fall, Tia made the National TOPs Team for the second time.
In 2007, Tia began her level 8 season at the Metroplex Challenge. There, she finished fifth in the all-around and first on vault. At the Texas Prime Meet, she won the all-around title as well as first on vault and third on uneven bars and floor exercise. Tia then placed fourth overall at both Texas Elite Qualifier and Yellow Rose Classic. At the Rose City Classic, she placed first on vault and floor exercise as well as second in the all-around. Tia placed fourth at both Level 8 State Championships and Level 8 Regional Championships. For the third time, Tia qualified to the National TOPs Team in the fall.
Tia moved up to level nine in 2008. She started her 2008 season at the Metroplex Challenge and Texas Prime Meet, where she finished 11th and 12th overall respectively. At the Yellow Rose Classic, she won the all-around title as well as first on uneven bars and floor exercise. Tia then placed third in the all-around at the Rose City Classic. At the Level 9 State Championships, she finished third on balance beam and placed in the top ten all-around. At the Level 9 Regionals, Tia finished eighth in the all-around. This allowed her to compete at the Level 9 Western Championships, where she had a respectable finish. During the first weekend of May, she qualified for hopes pre-elite by placing third at the Elite Qualifier. She concluded her 2008 season at the US Challenge. After Tia's 2008 season, she began training at Eagle's Wings Athletics.
She competed as a level 10 gymnast in 2009. At the Texas Prime Meet, she finished sixth in the all-around and fourth on vault and balance beam. Tia won a bronze medal on balance beam at the Rose City Classic. She finished fourth in the all-around at the Level 10 State Championships. At the Level 10 Regional Championships, she placed 13th in the all-around as well as fourth on vault and fifth on balance beam. Tia ended her season at the National Invitational Tournament. There, she finished fifth in the all-around and won a bronze medal on vault and a silver medal on balance beam. In the summer of 2009, she followed her coach, Tatiana, to Zenith Elite Gymnastics Academy.
In 2010, Tia started her season at the Texas Prime Meet, where she finished second on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around. She won the balance beam and all-around titles at the Achiever's District Qualifier. Tia again took home the all-around title, in addition to balance beam and floor exercise, at the WOGA Classic. She finished out January by finishing second on vault and balance beam at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. In March, Tia won uneven bars at the Zenith Spring Classic. She next competed at the Level 10 State Championships, placing sixth in the all-around and fifth on vault and balance beam. At the Level 10 Regionals, she placed second on vault, first on balance beam and fifth in the all-around. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals, where she finished 13th in the all-around, fifth on vault and seventh on balance beam.
Tia began her 2011 season at the Metroplex Challenge where she finished fifth in the all-around and second on vault. Tia won the vault title at both Gliders Elite Qualifier and WOGA Elite Qualifier. At the Houston National Invitational, she finished ninth in the all-around and second on vault. On the next day after the Houston meet, she passed compulsories, a portion of the elite testing by finishing second in the all-around and first on vault. At the Zenith Spring Invitational, Tia placed first on vault and second on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. Tia finished third in the all-around and floor exercise as well as second on balance beam at the Level 10 Texas State. At the Level 10 Regionals, she won the floor exercise title and finished seventh overall. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Long Beach, California. At the JO Nationals, she won a silver medal on vault!
In 2012, Tia finished second in the all-around and first on vault at the Alamo Classic. She traveled to California for the Gliders National Elite Qualifier where she passed compulsories. In optionals, she placed first on vault and third in the all-around. In March, Tia placed seventh in the all-around and second on vault at the Houston National Invitational. At the Zenith Spring Invitational, she finished third in the all-around, first on vault and second on uneven bars. She did really well at the Level 10 State Championships, finishing fifth in the all-around and first on vault. At the Region 3 Championships, Tia placed third on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around, qualifying to the JO Nationals. In May, Tia tested elite at the Texas Elite Qualifier where she finished second in the all-around as well as first on vault and balance beam. She narrowly missed qualifying to elite by .55. A few days later, Tia bounced back at the JO Nationals in Hampton, VA where she finished 14th in the all-around and fourth on vault out of 57 gymnasts.
Currently, Tia trains 32 hours per week at Zenith Elite Gymnastics Academy under coaches Tatiana Schegolkova and Alex Atamas. She is training hard to reach her goal, to earn a college scholarship to a Division 1 school.
Tia Alexandria-Rose Allbritten was born on October 29, 1996 in Garland, Texas to Fred and Marilyn. She has three dogs; Lugnut, Cheddar and Summer. Currently, Tia is in tenth grade at Bridgeway Academy and plans to graduate from high school in 2014. During Tia's spare time, she likes listening to music and skating. She runs track during the summer.
