Trystien Jordan Charles was born on February 3, 1994 to Kelvin and Mary Charles. She has three siblings; Tanishia, Jamie and Joscelin Beacham. Currently, Trystien is a senior at Providence Christian Academy and is a member of the National Honor Society and BETA Club. She will graduate from high school in the spring of 2012.

Trystien was four years old when she started gymnastics in a recreational class at Atlanta School of Gymnastics where she was introduced to pre-team by her Coach Michelle Gales. Soon after, was the start of Trystien's competitive gymnastics career; she trained at Atlanta Gymnastics Center under Coach Chris Calvert.

In 2006, Trystien competed as a level 7 gymnast. She won the uneven bars title at the IGI Chicago Style. During the Atlanta Crown Invitational, she finished fourth all-around. She moved up to level 8 in 2007 where she placed second in the all-around at Level 8 State Championships. Level 8 Regional Championships, was the highlight of her level 8 season, she won vault, balance beam, floor exercise and the all-around titles. Trystien's all-around score was 37.75.

Trystien competed as a level 9 gymnast in 2008. She finished second all-around at the WOGA Classic. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she won vault, uneven bars, balance beam and all-around. She also won all-around at the Level 9 State Championships. She moved up to level 10 in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Spring Break-Out Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, she placed second on balance beam and all-around. She ended her season at the Level 10 Regional Championships. She continued competing level 10 in 2010. She finished second on the uneven bars at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. Trystien swept the gold medals at the Spring Break-Out Invitational. During the Level 10 State Championships, she placed third on uneven bars, balance beam and all-around. She was injured during warm ups at the Level 10 Regional Championships which ended her 2010 competition season.

In 2011, Trystien won the all-around title at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. At the Level 10 Regionals, she placed fifth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Long Beach, California.

In addition to the JO program, Trystien is a member of the Providence Christian Academy gymnastics team where she has participated and lettered since her freshman year. During her freshman season (2008-2009), she and the PCA gymstars won the Georgia High School State Gymnastics Championship coached by Gwyn Puckett.

Currently, Trystien trains 20 hours per week at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center. She is training under coaches Dan Thaxton and Katie Heenan-Dodson. Trystien is training hard for the upcoming 2012 season where she hopes to have a successful year as a level 10 gymnast. She has a strong desire to continue gymnastics in college.
