Whitney Cronin was born on August 19, 1999 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Jon and Barb Cronin. She has two brothers, Jeremy and Jason, a dog named Angus and a cat, Clemson. Currently. Whitney is a senior at Southwest Guilford High School where she will graduate from high school in the spring of 2017.

Whitney was enrolled into "Mommy and Me" classes at High Point Gymnastics Academy at the age of two. At the age of six, Whitney started competing as a level 4 at Tumblebees. She has been training at High Point Gymnastics Academy since 2008.

As a level 5 gymnast in 2008, Whitney finished third in the all-around and second on vault at the State Championships. In 2009, she placed first in the all-around and second on vault and floor exercise at the Level 6 State Championships.

In 2010, Whitney started her level 7 season at the Tiger Paw Classic where she placed fourth in the all-around. At the Excalibur Cup, she finished second in the all-around and third on uneven bars and floor exercise. She placed third in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the Spring Break-Out. Whitney finished third in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed ninth in the all-around with a 37.525 and fifth on floor exercise.

Whitney started her 2011 season in level 8 at the Twin City Classic, finishing seventh in the all-around. At the Flip Fest Invitational, she placed fourth in the all-around and second on vault. At the Tiger Paw Classic, she placed fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault. At the Greensboro Invitational, Whitney did really well where she placed second in the all-around with a 37.100 as well as second on vault and floor exercise. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.425, first on uneven bars and second on floor exercise. At the State Championships, Whitney finished fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault and uneven bars. She concluded her season at the Region 8 Championships, finishing second in the all-around with a 37.075 and third on vault.

As a first-year level 9 gymnast in 2012, Whitney placed 13th in the all-around and ninth on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished 17th in the all-around. She continued competing level 9 for the 2013 season. She was struggling with an injury all season. She placed third on balance beam at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the State Championships, Whitney finished ninth on balance beam and floor exercise. She concluded her season at the Region 8 Championships, finishing in the top twenty.

Whitney started her 2014 season at the Atlanta Crown Invitational, finishing second in the all-around and third on balance beam and floor exercise. At the Tiger Paw Classic, she placed fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars and floor exercise. Whitney placed second on vault and third in the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. At the Greensboro Invitational, she placed second in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on vault. She finished seventh in the all-around and third on vault at the State Championships. She concluded her season at the Region 8 Championships, finishing 17th in the all-around and 13th on uneven bars out of 39 gymnasts.

In 2015, Whitney finished fifth on uneven bars and floor exercise at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. At the Coaches Spectacular, Whitney placed fourth on vault and floor exercise. She placed fourth in the all-around, second on floor exercise and third on vault at the Greensboro Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars. Whitney finished sixth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She had a great meet at the Region 8 Championships where she placed 12th in the all-around with a 37.025 and eighth on vault.

Whitney finished second on vault, fourth on uneven bars and floor exercise and eighth in the all-around at the 2016 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing ninth in the all-around and fifth on vault and uneven bars. She was alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Currently, Whitney is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 30 hours per week at High Point Gymnastics Academy in North Carolina under coaches Rob Travers, Buddy Thorburn and Tatyana Skrypnyk. She would like to obtain a college scholarship to a Division 1 school.
