Aaliyah started gymnastics at around the age of two doing mommy and me classes in pre-school. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Win-Win in Maryland. She was the 2012 Level 4 MD State Uneven Bars Silver Medalist. Following her level 5 season, she began training at 1st Class Gymnastics in Maryland. She skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2015 season. She placed in the top ten in the all-around at the State Championships. In 2016 as a level 7 gymnast, Aaliyah placed first on balance beam and in the all-around with a 38.200.
In 2017, Aaliyah skipped level 8 and moved up to level 9. She placed second on uneven bars at the State Championships and first on uneven bars at the Region 7 Championships. Following her 2017 season, Aaliyah moved back to Win-Win Gymnastics in Maryland. She was unable to compete in 2018 due to an injury. In 2019 as a level 9 gymnast, Aaliyah placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing fifth in the all-around with a 37.050, second on uneven bars and third on floor exercise at the Region 7 Championships. At the Eastern Nationals, Aaliyah placed tenth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars.
Aaliyah moved up to level 10 for the 2020 season. She qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Aaliyah took home a bronze medal on uneven bars with a 9.550 at the Region 7 Championships. She qualified to the National Championships in Mesa, AZ as an uneven bars specialist where she placed second with a 9.525 out of 143 gymnasts.
When Aaliyah isn't busy training 22 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys drawing and painting. She also coaches level 2 team at her gym. Aaliyah is the daughter to Lara and Wyane Gilmore and she has three brothers, a sister, a dog and a cat. Currently, Aaliyah is an honor student at Old Mill High School and she will graduate in 2023.
