When Annelise was little, her parents enrolled Annelise in many different sports including “Mommy and Me” gymnastics classes at Gold Star Gymnastics. Annelise loved gymnastics and has trained at Gold Star Gymnastics since then. Her older sister, Kendra Smaby is also a gymnast!
Annelise competed level 4 in 2015, finishing fifth in the all-around and fifth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She moved up to level 5 for the 2016 season where she placed sixth on balance beam at the State Championships. Annelise was unable to compete in 2017 and 2018 seasons due to two elbow surgeries. She returned and began training level 7 in the fall of 2018. She tested out of level 7 and quickly moved up to level 8 for the rest of the 2019 season. At the Level 8 State Championships, she placed eighth on vault. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships, finishing eighth on balance beam and ninth on vault.
When Annelise has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys crafts, sewing and photography. She earned Girl Scout Silver Award and she also coaches at Gold Star Gymnastics. Annelise is an honor student where she currently maintains a 4.0 GPA at Henry M. Gunn High School. She earned Level 3 Gold Award on her National Spanish Exam.
