Avery started gymnastics in a mommy and me class at the age of two. She loved the sport despite trying other sports (Tennis, soccer and track & field). After trying track she said, “Don’t even think about taking me out of the gym!” She started competing at the age of five and has continued to progress ever since. Avery was the 2015 Level 4 Texas State Vault Silver Medalist, 2016 Level 5 Texas State All-Around (39.025), Vault, Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise Champion and 2017 Level 6 Texas State All-Around Bronze Medalist (38.975) and Vault & Balance Beam Silver Medalist. Avery was named to America's Top 100 in levels 3-6.

As a level 7 gymnast in 2018, Avery placed first in the all-around with a 38.600, first on uneven bars and second on vault and floor exercise. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing first in the all-around with a 38.625, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam and floor exercise. Avery skipped level 8 and quickly moved up to level 9 for the 2019 season where she qualified to the State Championships. Following her 2019 season, Avery moved to Austin Elite Gymnastics Training Center in Lakeway, TX. Avery qualified to the 2020 Level 9 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Avery moved up to level 10 for the 2021 season. She placed eighth in the all-around and first on balance beam at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals as a balance beam specialist and all-around alternate. In 2022, Avery placed fifth in the all-around and fifth on vault, uneven bars and balance beam at the State Championships, qualifying to Region 3 Championships.

When Avery isn't busy training 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys reading and arts & crafts. She is an honor student at Benold Middle School and she will graduate in 2025. She is a member of Duke TIP Scholar. Avery is also the SeaPerch Finalist (3rd Place) in 2017, Texas Regional Science Fair Finalist (2nd Place) in 2016 and School Science Fair Winner in 2013 and 2015-2017. Avery took the PSAT and scored in 99th percentile.
