She skipped levels 5 and 6, tested out of level 7 and moved up to level 8 during the 2014-2015 season. Following her 2016 Level 8 Regionals, she moved to Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, OK.

In 2017 as a level 8 gymnast, Avery placed seventh in the all-around and eighth on vault and balance beam at the Region 3 Championships. She moved up to level 9 for the next two seasons. She was named alternate for the 2018 Level 9 Western Nationals after finishing eighth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars and balance beam at the Region 3 Championships. In 2019, Avery earned a silver medal on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished first on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around with a 37.150. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA, finishing sixth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars. Avery was named to America's Top 100 on vault with a 9.775.
