Carter Kim was born on March 4, 2005 in Texas to Chong and Cara Kim. He has two brothers, Carson and Casen, a sister, Channing and a dog named Charlie. Currently, Carter is an honor student at Wakeland High School and he will graduate in 2023. He is a member of National Honor Society and has received All American award in 2020 and 2021. When Carter has time outside of gymnastics and school, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, mounting biking and playing video games.

Carter loved to jump and climb on everything at home, so Carter's parents decided to enroll him into gymnastics when he was three years old. His mom was in gymnastics and his parents met coaching, so they thought gymnastics would be a good fit. Carter started his gymnastics career at Eagle Gymnastics in Frisco, TX. During his time at Eagle Gymnastics, he received multiple awards including the spirit award, beast award and breakthrough. After his 2018 season, Carter moved to World Olympic Gymnastics Academy to train under Sergei Pakanich.

In the summer of 2021, Carter volunteer coached at WOGA Gymnastics for the level 4-7s and he also excelled in the HOBY international Leadership training seminar that he spent three days. Each fall, he volunteers at Gymnasts 4 Gymnastics where it is a birthday party for 50 homeless children. Carter also volunteers at the adopt-a-shelf program with Frisco Family Services all year long.

Carter is looking forward to pursuing gymnastics at the college level. His positive attitude, great work ethic and leadership makes him a great teammate.
