Charlyze's mom enrolled her into Mommy and Me classes for fun when she was 18 months old. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Alamo Gymnastics Center in San Antonio, TX. She competed level 4 in 2010 and level 5 in 2011.
As a level 6 gymnast in 2012, Charlyze finished second in the all-around with a 37.200, first on balance beam, second on floor exercise and third on vault at the State Championships. Charlyze moved up to level 7 for the 2013 season where she placed in the top ten in the all-around with a 37.175 at the State Championships. In 2014, Charlyze scored a 37.300 at the Level 7 State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, Charlyze earned a silver medal with a 9.400 and scored a 37.000 in the all-around.
In 2015 as a level 8 gymnast, Charlyze scored a 37.275 and fifth on uneven bars with a 9.725 at the Region 3 Championships. Charlyze moved up to level 9 for the 2016 season where she placed seventh on floor exercise with a 9.500 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing in the top ten on floor exercise with a 9.650. Charlyze continued competing level 9 in 2017. She placed seventh in the all-around and third on floor exercise at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID where she placed seventh on floor exercise with a 9.375. In the summer of 2017, Charlyze moved to Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX. Charlyze had an injury that kept her from competing most of the season but was able to return in time for the Level 9State Championships where she placed third on uneven bars and fourth on floor exercise. At the Region 3 Championships. Charlyze finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.275, first on uneven bars and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Salt City Lake, UT.
Charlyze trains 21 hours per week at Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX under coach Steve Arkell. Charlyze's long-term goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
