Daniela's mom took Daniela to her first gymnastics tumbling class when she was two years old. She quickly fell in love with the sport. She competed level 4 at the age of eight. She tested out of level 5 and competed level 6 in 2016. As a level 7 gymnast in 2018, Daniela placed second in the all-around with a 37.650, first on balance beam and second on floor exercise. She qualified to the Region 6 Championships, finishing first on uneven bars and in the all-around.

In 2019, Daniela skipped level 8 and quickly moved up to level 9. She placed first in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the Region 6 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL where she placed 11th overall and sixth on balance beam. In 2020, Daniela qualified to the 2020 Level 9 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Daniela placed eighth on floor exercise at the Region 6 Championships.

When Daniela is not training 25 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys baking and crafting. She currently resides in New York with her parents, Marilyn and Daniel Colon and one sister, Melania. Currently, Daniela is an honor student at Northport Middle School and she will graduate in 2024. She also tutors elementary students and helps with the fundraiser for cystic fibrosis. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college scholarship.
