Ella was very energetic and needed an activity to keep her busy. Ella's parents parents signed her up for dance, soccer and gymnastics. She fell in love with the sport of gymnastics and decided to pursue gymnastics further. She started her competitive gymnastics career at TAGS Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, MN. She was the 2014 Level 4 MN State All-Around Silver Medalist and 2015 Level 5 MN State Vault & Uneven Bars Bronze Medalist. Following Ella's level 5 season, she moved to Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, MN and has been there ever since.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2017, Ella placed second in the all-around with a 38.050 and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. Ella moved up to level 8 for the 2018 season, finishing third on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships and third in the all-around at the Region 4 Championships. Ella competed as a level 9 gymnast for the next two seasons. In 2019, Ella placed second in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals after finishing first overall and first on uneven bars and balance beam at the Region 4 Championships. At the Level 9 Western Nationals, Ella took home a gold medal on uneven bars with a 9.550. Ella had a great 2020 level 9 season, but was unable to compete in the post-season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ella was limited to a few events due to an injury in 2021 and 2022. She qualified and competed at the 2021 State Championships on two events and 2022 Region 4 Championships on one event.
When Ella isn't busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, drawing and listening to music. She is the daughter to Sarah and Nick Montgomery and she has a brother, Carson and two cats named Mookie and Jasper. Currently, Ella is a student at Edina High School and she will graduate in 2024.
