Isabella started taking gymnastics classes at the age of two in Mommy and Me classes at a local gym. She began her competitive gymnastics career at Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, Mn and has been there ever since. She was the 2015 Level 4 MN State All-Around Silver Medalist and 2017 Level 7 MN State Uneven Bars Champion.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2019, Isabella placed sixth in the all-around and first on uneven bars with a 9.725 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 4 Championships, finishing first in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on floor exercise. Isabella moved up to level 9 for the 2020 season, but was unable to compete at the State Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Isabella was named to America's Top 100 on uneven bars and floor exercise. She continued competing level 9 for the 2021 season where she placed fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships, her only event.

Isabella moved up to level 10 for the 2022 season. She placed fifth on uneven bars and eighth on vault at the State Championships, qualifying to the Regionals. Isabella missed the 2023 season due to an injury. In 2024, Isabella placed fourth on vault and seventh on floor exercise at the Region 4 Championships.

When Isabella isn't busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys golfing and any outdoor activities, such as squash. She is the daughter to Son and Tracey Nguyen and she has two brothers, Jack and Nick and one sister, Sophia. Sophia is currently a gymnast at the University of Minnesota. Currently, Isabella is an honor student at Hopkins High School and she will graduate in 2025. She is a member of Chinese Immersion, Asian Empowerment Club and Letters of Love.
