Kayla started taking recreational classes when she was four years old to try something new. She fell in love with the sport and found her passion. When she was seven years old, she got asked to join the competitive team at the gym she was taking lessons at. As a level 6 gymnast in 2016, Kayla placed second in the all-around with a 38.000 and first on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. Kayla was named to America's Top 100 on vault and in the all-around.

In 2017 as a level 7 gymnast, Kayla placed eighth in the all-around and first on vault with a 9.825 at the State Championships. She was named to America's Top 100 on vault. Kayla competed in three level 8 meets in 2018 before moving up to level 9 rest of the season. She placed sixth on vault at the Region 1 Championships. Kayla had a great level 9 season in 2019 where she placed first on uneven bars and eighth on vault at the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA. She placed sixth in the all-around with a 37.550 and third on vault at the Region 1 Championships.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2021, Kayla placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing seventh in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the Region 1 Championships.

When Kayla isn't busy training 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys surfing and traveling. She is the daughter of Walter and Rana Toniolo and she has a brother, Brayden and a dog named Emma. Currently, Kayla is an honor student at Canyon High School and she will graduate in 2022. She has gotten Academic Excellence Award for earning a 4.0 GPA or higher each semester.
