Kyla Heidaker was born on August 13, 2004 to Mark and Victoria Heidaker. She has a brother, Logan and a dog named Axle. Currently, Kyla is a distinguished honor student at Texas Connections Academy and she will graduate in 2022.

Kyla’s start in gymnastics was in a back handspring class. She really enjoyed the class, but at the same time she had some friends in competitive gymnastics that encouraged her to try a recreational class with all the gymnastic events. After just a short time, she decided that she loved gymnastics! Through the recreational program at Stars Gymnastics, Kyla was noticed by one of the team coaches for her talent. The coach recommended that Kyla tryout for team gymnastics. From tryouts, she started at level 3 in January 2014 and has loved every moment since.

As a level 7 gymnast in 2018, Kyla finished third in the all-around with a 37.050 and fifth on floor exercise with a 9.575 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.350 and fifth on uneven bars with a 9.425. Kyla skipped level 8 and quickly moved up to level 9 for the 2019 season. She placed fourth in the all-around at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA where she placed fifth on floor exercise. In 2020, Kyla qualified to the Level 9 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2021, Kyla placed ninth on vault with a 9.525 at the Region 3 Championships.

Kyla trains 37 hours per week at Stars Gymnastics in Houston, TX under coaches Jenn Larson, Jon Lee, Dan Baker and Ashly Baker. She is working hard to obtain her level 10 skills and to move up to level 10 by the 2021 season. Her long-term goal is to compete a college gymnastics team.
