Maddie started taking recreational classes at the age of four. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Elite Gymnastics in Baton Rouge, LA. She was the 2014 Level 4 LA State All-Around, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise Champion. She tested out of level 5, skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2015 season. She placed eighth in the all-around with a 37.600 and fourth on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2016, Maddie placed eighth overall at the State Championships. She moved up to level 9 for the 2017 season but was unable to compete most of the season due to an injury. She came back in 2018 as a first-year level 10 gymnast where she placed eighth overall at the State Championships. In 2019, Maddie finished second in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing fifth on balance beam. Maddie qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. Following her 2020 season, Maddie moved to PAC Gymnastics in Baton Rouge, LA. In 2021, Maddie placed second in the all-around, first on balance beam and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships.

In 2022, Madeline placed second in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she took home a silver medal on balance beam with a 9.500. Madeline competed as a balance beam specialist at the Level 10 National Championships in Mesa, AZ.

When Maddie isn't busy training 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys reading, listening to music, long boarding and spending time with her family and friends. She is the daughter to Paul and Laura Fernandez and she has two brothers, Ethan and Jake and two cats. Currently, Maddie is an honor student at University View Academy and she will graduate in 2023. She volunteers at a local elementary school and Montessori pre-school.
