Maddie began gymnastics at the age of four at Ocean Tumblers Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, VA. Within a few months, she joined the pre-team/competitive program. As a level 4 gymnast in 2011, she placed first in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise at the Virginia State Championships. Maddie moved up to level 5 for the 2012 season where she placed third in the all-around with a 37.975 and second on balance beam at the Virginia State Championships.
Following Maddie's level 5 season in 2012, she moved to Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, VA. She competed level 6 in 2013, finishing second in the all-around with a 37.450 and second on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She skipped level 7 and immediately started competing level 8 in 2014. At the State Championships, Maddie placed in the top ten in the all-around and sixth on balance beam and floor exercise. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships.
In 2015 as a level 9 gymnast, Maddie finished fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships where she placed in the top ten in the all-around and third on balance beam. In the summer of 2015, Maddie and her family relocated to North Carolina, where she began training at Everest Gymnastics Training Center in Huntersville, NC. She was unable to compete most of the 2016 season due to an injury. She did compete at the 2016 Level 9 State Championships as a specialist.
As a first-year level 10 during the 2016-2017 season and after coming back from injury the prior year, Maddie was aggressive in her progress and improved her all around scores each meet as she continued to work towards full routines. Maddie won the North Carolina State and Region 8 floor titles in 2017 and was the first alternate for Junior Olympic Nationals. In February 2018, Maddie began training at Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, NC under coaches Ludmilla Shobe and Sofia Managadze. At the Region 8 Championships, Madelynn won the floor exercise title with a 9.550 and finished second on uneven bars and balance beam. At the 2018 Junior Olympic Nationals in Cincinnati, OH, Maddie won the national floor exercise title with a 9.600, placed fourth on balance beam, tenth on uneven bars, and 13th in the all-around with a 37.700.
In 2019, Maddie placed second in the all-around with a 38.125, first on floor exercise and second on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing first in the all-around with a 37.900, first on floor exercise and second on balance beam. In 2020, Maddie qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Maddie trains 28-30 hours per week at Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, NC. Maddie's goals for the 2020-2021 season are to help lead her team to a successful meet season and qualify to the 2021 Junior Olympic Nationals.
