Megan Steensland was born on May 6, 2004 in Edina, MN to Matt and Kristen Steensland. She has two brothers, Charlie and Max and a dog named Lewie. Currently, Megan is an honor student at Southwest Christian High School and she will graduate in 2022.

Megan's neighbors were doing gymnastics and she wanted to do it too. She started taking gymnastics classes for fun at the age of four at Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, MN and has been there ever since! Megan placed sixth in the all-around at the 2013 Level 4 State Championships and 2014 Level 5 State Championships. She skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2015 season where she placed third in the all-around with a 37.275 and second on uneven bars and floor exercise.

In 2016 as a level 8 gymnast, Megan finished third in the all-around, second on vault and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 4 Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around with a 37.550 and fifth on floor exercise. Megan competed level 9 the next two seasons. She earned a silver medal on floor exercise at the 2017 State Championships. At the 2017 Region 3 Championships, she placed seventh in the all-around and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID. In 2018, Megan grabbed gold medals on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 37.750 at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she placed second in the all-around with a 37.125, firs ton balance beam and second on floor exercise. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT for the second time, finishing ninth in the all-around with a 37.350 and sixth on floor exercise.

In 2019 as a first-year level 10 gymnast, Megan placed third on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished third on floor exercise, fifth on vault and seventh in the all-around. She qualified to the Junior olympic Nationals. Megan qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Megan placed sixth in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the Region 4 Championships. This qualified Megan to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL where she finished in the top ten on floor exercise!

Megan trains 21 hours per week at Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, MN under coaches Kari & Will Vaughn, Heidi Mastro, Jimmy Darlington and Kelly Cabalka. Megan's long-term goal is to compete for a Division I college gymnastics team.
