Mikayla started recreational gymnastics at the age of four with a friend. She immediately fell in love with the sport and wanted to be in the gym as much as possible. After watching the 2012 Olympics, Mikayla wanted to pursue the competitive team path. Mikayla started her competitive gymnastics career at Apollo Gymnastics in Virginia. She was the 2016 Level 6 VA State Floor Exercise Champion and All-Around Silver Medalist. As a level 7 gymnast in 2017, Mikayla placed fourth on vault with a 9.700 and eighth in the all-around with a. 37.900 at the State Championships.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2018, Mikayla qualified to the Region 7 Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around, first on vault and second on balance beam. Mikayla had a great level 9 season! She earned gold medals on vault and in the all-around with a 37.525 at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, Mikayla placed third in the all-around with a 37.650 and second on floor exercise. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL, finishing fourth in the all-around with a 37.700 and second on balance beam.

In January 2020, Mikayla moved to GMS Gymnastics in Manassas, VA. Mikayla qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Mikayla placed third in the all-around and first on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships where she finished fifth on balance beam. In 2022, Mikayla placed eighth in the all-around and seventh on floor exercise at the State Championships, qualifying to Regionals. Mikayla finished fifth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars and floor exercise at the 2023 Level 10 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships, finishing in the top ten in the all-around and seventh on floor exercise with a 9.425.
