Morgan Hellbusch was born on August 13, 2008 in New York City to Jon and Michelle Hellbusch. She and her family, including sister Sage and shih tzus Bonnie and Clyde, moved to Minnesota in 2013. Morgan is an honor student at Minnetonka High School and will graduate in 2026.

In 2016, at age eight, Morgan started taking gymnastics for fun, after being inspired, watching Simone, Aly and Laurie bring home the gold, in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Morgan and her sister would teach themselves gymnastics watching YouTube videos! Fate intervened when their summer nanny, Anna, a college student and former gymnast, trained by Morgan’s now coach Kari, suggested they sign up for gymnastics. The rest is history!

In 2017, after four months of recreational classes, Morgan was invited to join the team at Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie, MN. In her first official year taking gymnastics, Morgan won the all-around title at the 2017 Level 4 State Championship with a 37.600 and first on uneven bars with a 9.725. In 2018, Morgan skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2019 season, where she placed third on balance beam and forth on uneven bars at the 2019 Level 7 State Championship. In 2020, as a first-year level 8, Morgan qualified for the 2020 State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, Morgan moved up to level 9 where she placed first on vault, second on floor exercise, third on balance beam and third in the all-around at the Region 4 Championships. Morgan then went on to place fifth on vault at the Level 9 Western Nationals in Iowa. In 2022, as a second-year level 9, Morgan placed first on vault at the 2022 State Championship and first on vault at the 2022 Region 4 Championships. Morgan qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT where she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.600 and second on vault with a 9.750. Morgan's 9.750 vault score placed her onto America's Top 100 in level 9.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2023, Morgan placed sixth in the all-around and third on floor exercise at the Region 4 Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK. In 2024, Morgan had a great season where she placed third in the all-around with a 37.025 and third on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished third in the all-around and second on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 10 Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL. At the Nationals, Morgan placed in the top 25 in the all-around out of 57 gymnasts in her age group.

When Morgan isn’t busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys swimming, playing tennis and family vacations, especially to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Arizona. Morgan trains at Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie under Kari & Will Vaughn, Heidi & Nick Mastro and Travis Cherrier. Morgan’s long-term goal is to compete for a Division 1 college gymnastics team.
