Nia started taking dance classes when she was five years old. Her family moved from Pennsylvania to New York and when her mom tried to find a dance school/class for Nia, Nia told her mom that she can dance at home and did not want her to enroll her. When Nia was six years old, she met a friend at summer camp who taught her how to do a cartwheel. She came home that day and asked her mom to put her in gymnastics. She found a gymnastics class at a local YMCA which she did once a week for one hour. Nia and her family relocated to North Carolina when she was eight years old. She joined Rose's Gymnastics where she competed in the Xcel program at the age of nine.
In the summer of 2016, at ten years old, Nia moved to Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, NC where she continued in the Xcel program. She was the 2017 Silver Xcel NC State All-Around Bronze Medalist (37.725), 2017 Region 8 Silver Xcel All-Around Bronze Medalist (38.300), 2018 Platinum Xcel NC State All-Around Silver Medalist (37.375) and 2018 Region 8 Platinum Xcel All-Around Fourth Place Finish (37.275). In the fall of 2018, Nia tested out of level 4 and competed at the Level 5 State Championships where she took home gold medals on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around with a 38.475.
Nia quickly moved up to level 6 for the 2019 spring season. She finished first on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around with a 37.775 at the State Championships. She represented North Carolina at the Region 8 Championships, finishing third in the all-around with a 38.350, second on balance beam and third on uneven bars. In 2020, Nia qualified to the Level 7 State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021 as a level 8 gymnast, Nia placed third in the all-around with a 37.875 and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she finished third in the all-around with a 37.525 and first on vault and balance beam. Nia moved up to level 9 for the 2022 season. She took gold medals on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around with a 37.675 at the state Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, Nia placed third in the all-around and first on vault. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Rochester, NY where she took home a bronze medal on vault.
When Nia isn't busy training over 24 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys reading, swimming and playing the piano. She is the daughter to Assa and Yves-Laure and she has two brothers, AJ and Lucas and one dog named Nala. Currently, Nia is an honor student at South Point High School and she will graduate in 2024. She is currently in the top 15% of her class with a 4.44 GPA. She is a member of National Beta Club.
