Nicole Valeria Meza was born on October 12, 2002 in Maryland to Eduardo Meza-Etienne and Yanire Isaacura. She has a sister, Valentina. Currently, Nicole is a bilingual (English/Spanish) honor student at Brunswick High School and she will graduate in 2021. Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. When Nicole has time outside of gymnastics and school, she enjoys cooking, baking, reading and being outdoors.
Nicole has always been very flexible, even when she was a toddler. Her parents decided to enroll her into recreational gymnastics when she was four years old. She fell in love with the sport and very quickly learned new skills. She started her gymnastics career at Frederick Gymnastics Club in Frederick, MD.
As a level 6 gymnast in 2014, Nicole earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the State Championships. Following her level 6 season, she moved to Hill's Gymnastics in Gaithersburg, MD. Nicole skipped level 7 and quickly moved up to level 8 for the 2015 season. She qualified to the 2015 Region 7 Championships. Nicole continued competing level 8 in 2016 where she placed in the top ten in the all-around and fourth on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, Nicole earned a bronze medal on uneven bars with a 9.500.
Nicole moved up to level 9 for the 2017 season. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships where she placed sevneth on vault. In 2018, Nicole won the uneven bars title with a 9.550 at the Region 7 Championships. In 2019, Nicole placed first on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing fourth in the all-around, first on vault and second on uneven bars at the Region 7 Championships. At the Nationals in Kissimmee, FL, Nicole won the vault title with a 9.600. In 2020, Nicole qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Nicole trains 22 hours per week at Hill’s Gymnastics in Gaithersburg, MD under coaches Cynthia Smaha and Amy Martelli. Nicole's long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
