Soraya was invited to a friend’s birthday party at Oakville Gymnastics Club when she was four years old. She fell in love with gymnastics right there and then. She asked her mom to register her for recreational program. One session wasn't enough, so she asked to register for twice a week. When she saw the competitive girls she kept telling her coach that she wants to do what those girls do. Her recreational coach approached the competitive coach who tried Soraya out and offered her a spot in the competitive program.

Soraya was the 2015 Level 6 Ontario National Beam Bronze Medalist, 2016 Level 7 Ontario National Beam & Floor Medalist, 2017 Level 8 Ontario National Beam Champion and 2018 Level 9 Ontario Floor Medalist. In 2019 as a level 9 gymnast, Soraya won the all-around, vault, uneven bars and balance beam titles at the Ontario Championships. She qualified to the Eastern Canadian Championships where she placed second in the all-around and second on uneven bars and floor exercise. In 2020, Soraya qualified to the Level 10 Ontario Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. Her 2020 season was highlighted with an all-around win at Gymnix International.

Currently, Soraya is preparing for the 2020-2021 season as a level 10 gymnast where she hopes to place at the Ontario Championships. Her long-term goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
