Trystyn was always tumbling around when she was a toddler, so her parents decided to enroll her into gymnastics so she could have a safe place to flip. Trystyn immediately fell in love with the sport and started her gymnastics career at What's Up Gymnastics in Waipahu, HI. When her gym closed in 2012, she moved to Island Tumblers Gymnastics in Waipahu, HI. As a level 8 gymnast in 2018, Trystyn placed second on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the State Championships, qualifying to the Region 2 Championships.
In May 2018, Trystyn moved to Hawaii Island Twisters Gymnastics in Honolulu, HI. Trystyn moved up to level 9 for the 2019 season. She placed first on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the State Championships. At the Region 2 Championships, she finished third in the all-around, second on uneven bars and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Western Nationals in Spokane, WA where she finished eighth on uneven bars.
