Abigail was always doing crazy things, such as jumping off the top of her swing set, so her mom wanted to put her in a safe place for her to burn off energy. Abigail was enrolled into a recreational class at a local gym and never looked back. She began her competitive gymnastics career at Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, NC. Abigail was the 2013 Level 4 NC State Floor Exercise Champion and 2014 Level 5 NC State Floor Exercise Champion. In 2016 as a level 7 gymnast, Abigail placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.975 and second on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing first on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around with a 38.250.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2017, Abigail placed third in the all-around with a 37.400 and first on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she grabbed gold medals on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.100. Abigail moved up to level 9 for the 2018 season where she finished second in the all-around with a 38.025 and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing first on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the Region 8 Championships. Abigail was the 2018 Level 9 Eastern National Vault, Floor Exercise and All-Around Champion.

Abigail moved up to level 10 in 2019 where she placed third in the all-around and first on vault and floor exercise at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals. Abigail qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2020, Abigail moved to Perfect Balance Training Center in Charlotte, NC. Abigail qualified to the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup where she placed fourth on vault in the junior division. At the State Championships, Abigail took home a silver medal on floor exercise with a 9.625. She qualified to the Level 10 Nationals after finishing seventh in the all-around with a 37.225 and third on floor exercise at the Region 8 Championships.

In February 2022, Abigail began training at Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC. Abigail had a great 2022 season where she placed third in the all-around with a 38.050 and second on floor exercise at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships, finishing sixth in the all-around with a 38.225 and third on balance beam out of 57 gymnasts.

When Abigail isn't busy training 23 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys reading, art and spending time with her friends and family. She is the daughter to Brian and Rebecca Bednar and she has one brother, Ben and one sister, Libby, two dogs named Sadie and Cooper and 11 chickens. Currently, Abigail is an honor student at North Carolina Cyber Academy and she will graduate in 2024.
