Avery started gymnastics when she was four years old as something to do over the summer when she did not have dance class. She fell in love with the sport and quickly progressed at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, TX. She jumped from level 3 to level 7 in two years. She placed second on vault, third on uneven bars and seventh in the all-around with a 37.975 at the 2018 Level 7 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing ninth in the all-around with a 37.650.
As a level 8 gymnast in 2019, Avery grabbed gold medals on vault and in the all-around with a 38.475 at the State Championships. She placed ninth in the all-around and fourth on vault and uneven bars at the Region 3 Championships. She was named to America's Top 100 on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around. Avery moved up to level 9 for the 2020 season. She was unable to compete at the State Championships due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Avery's first level 10 season in 2021, she pulled her hamstring in January after having competed just one meet. In December 2021, she had another untimely injury that kept her out most of the season. She was able to compete uneven bars for two meets. In 2023, Avery took home a silver medal on uneven bars with a 9.600 at the State Championships and placed in the top 15 in the all-around at the Region 3 Championships.
When Avery isn't busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys spending time with friends and reading. She is the daughter of Chad and Randa Schwarz and she has a sister, Lakelyn and a dog named Coco. Currently, Avery is a student at Hutto High School and she will graduate in 2026.
