Kirsten started gymnastics when she was two years old. She watched her older sister doing gymnastics and she would try to do all of the skills the older girls were doing. When Kirsten was able to, her parents enrolled her and she has been full steam ever since. She started her competitive gymnastics career at CPAG in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was the 2014 Level 4 PA State All-Around Bronze Medalist and 2015 Level 5 PA State Floor Exercise Silver Medalist.

Kirsten skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. She placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.600 and fourth on floor exercise at the 2016 State Championships. She represented Pennsylvania State Team at the National Judges Cup where she placed first on vault with a 9.600 and fifth in the all-around with a 37.550. In 2017, Kirsten had the highest all-around score out of all age groups at the State Championships. Following her level 7 season, she moved to Prestige Gymnastics in Lancaster, PA. She tested out of level 8 and moved up to level 9 for the 2018 season but was unable to compete most of the season due to an injury.

In 2019, Kirsten placed second in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL after finishing third in the all-around with a 37.275 and third on vault and floor exercise at the Region 7 Championships. In 2020, Kirsten qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Kirsten is the daughter of Tim and Mindy Deckert and she has one sister, Alexa and one brother, Michael. Currently, Kirsten is a student at Cumberland Valley High School and she will graduate in 2023. Kirsten is a hard worker and she sets her personal goals, such as stick all dismounts, hit 4 for 4 routines at each meet and show kindness and compassion for each teammate. Her long-term ultimate goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
