Leanne Desmond was born on January 12, 2006 in Rochester, NY to Len and Loann Desmond. She has a younger brother, Domenic and a dog named Colby Jack. Currently, Leanne is a student at Lake Norman Christian and she will graduate from high school in 2023. When Leanne has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys painting, cooking, sewing, playing basketball with her brother and gardening.

Leanne started recreational gymnastics when she was around three years old at the little gym. While attending a birthday party at Rochester Gymnastics Academy she watched the older kids on team training and fell in love with the sport. She started her gymnastics career at Rochester Gymnastics Academy in Rochester, NY. As a level 4 gymnast in 2013, Leanne finished eighth in the all-around with a 37.475 and third on uneven bars and balance beam at the State Championships. At the 2014 Level 4 State Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around with a 38.250 and third on vault, balance beam and floor exercise. In December 2014, Leanne made the TOPs National "A" Team. She moved up to level 5 for the 2015 season where she finished first in the all-around with a 38.700 and second on all events at NY State Championship. Leanne was also invited to the Developmental Invitational Training Camp in May 2015 and August 2015.

In the summer of 2015, Leanne moved to Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC. She skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 in 2016. At the State Championships, she placed second in the all-around with a 38.300, first on uneven bars and second on vault. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around with a 38.300 and second on uneven bars and balance beam.

In 2017, Leanne tested out of level 8 and started competing level 9 in 2017. At the Region 8 Championships, she earned a bronze medal on uneven bars with a 9.550, her only event. Leanne continued competing level 9 for the 2018 season. At the State Championships, she finished fifth in the all-around and fifth on vault, uneven bars and balance beam. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing sixth on floor exercise and eighth on vault. Leanne moved up to level 10 for the 2019 season. She placed seventh in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars and balance beam at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN.

In 2020, Leanne qualified to the State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. Leanne did not compete in 2021 due to an injury. She came back in 2022 where she placed seventh in the all-around and third on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing sixth on balance beam. Leanne competed as a balance beam specialist at the Level 10 National Championships in Mesa, AZ.

Leanne trains 25-30 hours per week at Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC under coaches Yiwen Chen, Biyu Sun and Nikolai Cherchen. She also takes 1.5 hours of dance class each week. Leanne is working hard to become an elite gymnast as well as to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
