Sophia began taking gymnastics classes at the age of three for fun at WAKE Gymnastics in Raleigh, NC. Following her level 7 season in 2019, Sophia moved to Sonshine Gymnastics in Holly Springs, NC and has been there ever since. Sophia qualified to the 2020 Level 8 State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a level 9 gymnast in 2021, Sophia placed fourth in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished second in the all-around with a 38.100 and first on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals where she placed fourth in the all-around, first on floor exercise and third on uneven bars in the Junior 2 session. Sophia was named to America's Top 100 on floor exercise (2x) and in the all-around.

In 2022, Sophia moved up to level 10. She finished fifth in the all-around at the State Championships and Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships in Mesa, AZ. In 2023, Sophia finished third in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships in Oklahoma City, OK after finishing sixth in the all-around at the Region 8 Championships. In 2024, Sophia placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.100 and first on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished third in the all-around with a 37.550 and second on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 10 Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL, finishing 13th on uneven bars.

In 2025, Sophia finished fourth in the all-around and fourth on vault and uneven bars at the Level 10 State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed eighth on overall and third on balance beam. This qualified Sophia to the Level 10 National Championships in Salt Lake City, UT.

When Sophia isn't busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys going to the beach and hanging out with her friends. She is the daughter to Jenny and Taylor Marks and she has two sisters, Ava and Chloe, two brothers, Bryce and Jack and a golden retriever. Currently, Sophia is an honor student Cardinal Gibbons High School and she will graduate in 2026.
