Sophia began gymnastics at the age of three after her best friend invited her to attend a class with her. She loved it so much that she signed up for the class the same day at the local gym. At the beginning of Sophia's gymnastics career, she trained at Raleigh School of Gymnastics in Raleigh, NC. She was the 2018 Level 6 Regional All-Around (38.325) and Uneven Bars Champion and 2019 Level 7 Regional Floor Exercise Champion and All-Around Bronze Medalist (38.000). In 2020 as a level 8 gymnast, Sophia qualified to the State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the summer of 2020, Sophia moved to Bull City Gymnastics in Durham, NC. In 2021, she won vault and all-around titles at the Level 9 State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, Sophia placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals where she finished fifth on vault and eighth on floor exercise. Sophia continued competing level 9 for the 2022 season. She finished fifth in the all-around and second on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. She was unable to compete at the Region 8 Championships due to an injury.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2024, Sophia placed eighth on floor exercise with a 9.475 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing ninth in the all-around and eighth on uneven bars. She was the second alternate for the Level 10 Nationals.
Sophia is an honor student at Crossroads Flex High School and she will graduate in 2026. When she has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys reading, baking, traveling with her family and volunteering at a local pet shelter. Sophia currently lives in Wake Forest, NC with her parents, Mark and Jina, an older brother, Evan and two cats named Stella and Milo.
