Teryn watched her friend doing a backflip. Immediately, she asked her parents if she could learn how to do a backflip. She started at a local recreation center at the age of five. After the first day, they told Teryn's parents that she needed a specialized gym for gymnastics. Teryn has been training at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, TX her whole gymnastics career.

Teryn was the 2015 Level 5 TX State Floor Exercise Bronze Medalist and 2017 Level 7 TX State All-Around, Uneven Bars and Balance Beam Champion. Teryn was named to America's Top 100 on uneven bars (3x), balance beam and in the all-around in level 7. She tested out of level 8 and quickly moved up to level 9 for the 2019 season. She placed third in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, Teryn finished sixth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars. This qualified Teryn to the Level 9 Western Nationals where she placed sixth in the all-around and seventh on vault and balance beam.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2020, Teryn qualified to the State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Teryn placed sixth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships in Florida where she scored a 37.450 in the all-around and placed 11th on vault with a 9.450. Teryn had a great 2022 season, finishing second in the all-around with a 38.400 and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. Teryn took home gold medals on uneven bars and in the all-around with a 38.350 at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Level 10 National Championships in Mesa, AZ.
