Ava's preschool teacher recommended Ava to try gymnastics. Her teacher said, "She was smart and the most determined little girl I ever met. When my older daughter would come in and do something gymnastics related, Ava would try it until she got it. She was strong in preschool. I knew she had the energy, focus and drive." Ava began taking gymnastics classes at Zanesville Gymnastics in Zanesville, OH when she was six years old. Ava began competing level 4 at the age of seven in 2014 where she placed third in the all-around and first on vault and uneven bars a the State Championships.

Ava only competed in one level 5 meet, skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 by December 2014. Two months later, in February 2015, Ava's coach decided to move her up to level 8 where she qualified to the State Championships and Region 5 Championships. Ava was only eight years old! In 2016, at the age of nine, Ava competed as a level 9 gymnast where she qualified to the State Championships and Region 5 Championships. Following Ava's 2016 season, she moved to Buckeye Gymnastics in Westerville, OH to pursue the elite path. In the fall of 2016, Ava was named to TOPs National "B" Team.

In 2017, Ava continued competing level 9. She placed fifth in the all-around and third on balance beam at the State Championships. She was named alternate for the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing ninth in the all-around with a 37.150 and third on vault at the Region 5 Championships. At the age of twelve in 2018, Ava moved up to level 10 and HOPES 12-13. Ava competed in Montreal, Canada for the Gymnix International in the elite/novice division where she placed second on uneven bars and third on vault. At the State Championships, Ava finished fourth in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on vault. She was named alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing ninth in the all-around and first on vault at the Region 5 Championships. Ava also obtained her HOPES 12-13 compulsory score.

In 2019, Ava finished sixth in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the Level 10 State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she finished second in the all-around with a 37.700 and fourth on uneven bars and floor exercise. This qualified Ava to the Junior Olympic Nationals where she placed in the top ten on floor exercise in the Junior A session. Ava passed HOPES 12-13 in optional and compulsory and qualified to the HOPES Classic. However, she got hurt in training five days prior to the competition and could not compete. Ava missed 2020 season due to an injury and COVID-19 pandemic.

Ava decided not to pursue elite anymore and focus on level 10 for the 2021 season. She finished fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she placed seventh in the all-around and first on vault. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals but was unable to compete due to an injury.
