Avery started gymnastics at the age of two in Mommy and Me classes. She fell in love with the sport and was invited to be on the USAG team at Towers Gymnastics at the age of six. She competed level 4 in 2016, level 5 in 2017, level 6 in 2018 and level 7 in 2019. She was the 2019 Level 7 NY State Vault Bronze Medalist.

Avery moved up to level 8 for the 2020 season where she qualified to the State Championships but was unable to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Avery placed third on vault at the Level 8 State Championships. She moved up to level 9 for the 2023 season where she placed third on floor exercise and fourth on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 6 Championships, Avery placed sixth in the all-around and third on vault. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals. In 2024, Avery placed second on vault and third on floor exercise at the Level 9 State Championships. She took a silver medal on vault at the Region 6 Championships.

When Avery isn't busy training over 20 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys jet-skiing, listening to music, reading and coaching younger girls at Towers Gymnastics. She is the daughter to Keri and Nick Peragine and she has a brother, Nick, a dog and a cat. Currently, she is an honor student at The Stony Brook School and she will graduate from high school in 2026. She participates in the Stony Brook School mini-course programs called "Forensics," "Fashion Design," and "Eat, Travel, Write - Tales of a Middle School Writer." She also participated in the Stony Brook School work-job program as the Cafeteria Monitor.
